Adobe Analytics → CJA:
The Quiet Migration

Adobe has not announced an end-of-life date for Adobe Analytics. But every meaningful Adobe investment in analytics, decisioning, and the agentic stack is going into Customer Journey Analytics. The migration is already happening — the only question is whose timeline you move on.

Adobe Isn't Killing Adobe Analytics. They're Removing the Reasons to Stay.

There is no public sunset date for Adobe Analytics. There doesn't need to be one. Every net new analytics capability, every agentic integration, and every 2026 infrastructure deadline points in the same direction: Customer Journey Analytics.

Five 2026 deadlines are already on the books — legacy SSO, the LiveStream API payload format, TLS 1.2 cipher retirements, Report Builder, and the v1.4 Analytics API with WSSE authentication. None of them retire Adobe Analytics itself. All of them retire the bridges between Adobe Analytics and your existing stack. Each one forces work that competes with the same engineering capacity you'd need for the CJA migration.

Meanwhile, every 2025–2026 Adobe product announcement that touches analytics is CJA-only: Marketing Campaign Analytics (the rebranded Mix Modeler), Adobe CX Analytics, Data Insights Agent, Intelligent Captions and Guided Analysis, Content Analytics, and the CX Enterprise Coworker agent. Adobe Analytics is not on the agentic bus.

The teams that move on their own timeline will own clean data, fast decisioning, and a seat at the agentic table. The teams that wait will migrate under pressure with someone else's deadline.

The Migration Math
Wait vs. plan now — side-by-side timelines, risk profiles, outcomes.

Two Paths. Same Destination. Very Different Outcomes.

No enterprise gets to stay on Adobe Analytics forever. The choice is whether you migrate on your own terms or under someone else's. Here is the high-level shape of each path — the full decision matrix, timeline, and team-shape recommendations are inside the guide.

Path A — Wait for the Forced Sunset Migration timeline gets set by Adobe. Compounding bridge work on legacy infrastructure. Workarounds against the 75 prop / 250 eVar ceilings keep accumulating. Higher cost, lower quality, no leverage on scope. Your team operates one cycle behind the rest of the organization for every decision Adobe automates over the next two years.
Path B — Plan and Execute Now Migration on your timeline, your scope, your sequencing. AEP foundation, Person ID strategy, and Data View architecture get designed deliberately. Clean data flowing into the agentic stack. The full four-phase pattern — Foundation, Parallel Reporting, Migration, and Cutover — runs in roughly 12–18 months when treated as a data architecture project rather than a tool swap.

The Failure Modes That Kill CJA Migrations

Most teams underestimate the project because the dashboards look the same on the way in. The hard work is upstream. These are the patterns that push projects past 18 months — each one is unpacked in detail inside the guide.

Tool-Swap Thinking Treating CJA as a dashboard rebuild instead of an architectural transformation. Teams that lift-and-shift finish late and rebuild twice.
🔗
Identity & Stitching Merging anonymous and authenticated user data into a unified Person ID is a months-long project on its own. Bad identity strategy in AA becomes a hard reporting problem in CJA.
📊
Attribution Drift Adobe Analytics defaults to Last Touch. CJA defaults to Same Touch on dimensions. Reports look right and read wrong unless every attribution model is mapped deliberately.
🛠
Unsupported Components Activity Map, Contribution Analysis, and Transaction ID data sources don't yet exist in CJA. Workspace projects depending on them must be redesigned before migration.
Persistence Limits CJA enforces a 90-day max persistence on Data Views and a 13-month lookback for new versus repeat session reporting. AA implementations relying on longer windows have to redesign.
📖
Governance Gap AEP's separation between ingestion and reporting introduces governance responsibilities most AA teams don't have today. Without role clarity, schema work stalls.

Built for the People Planning the Migration

A planning resource for the teams who own the analytics platform and have to make the case for the migration timing, scope, and investment.

📈
Digital Analytics Leaders VPs of Analytics, Heads of Measurement, and analytics directors who own Adobe Analytics today and need a defensible plan for the move to CJA.
🌏
AEP & CJA Architects Solution architects designing the Person ID strategy, XDM schemas, Data Views, and Data Distiller patterns that the migration will live on top of.
💰
MarTech Procurement Procurement and finance teams sizing the AEP commitment, comparing in-house build versus partner-led delivery, and writing the SOW.
🧠
Data Engineering & MarTech Directors The owners of the downstream systems — CDP, ESPs, BI tools, attribution platforms — that need rewiring as AA report sources sunset.

The Planning Window Is Already Open

Five Adobe Analytics infrastructure deadlines land between January and August 2026. Typical CJA migrations run 12–24 months. Teams that haven't started Person ID design and Data View modeling are already operating on a compressed timeline.

We Place the Specialists CJA Migrations Actually Require

Focus GTS is a niche IT staffing firm specializing in Adobe Experience Cloud talent. CJA migrations need a specific shape of team — AEP architects, Person ID strategists, XDM schema designers, Data Distiller engineers, CJA analysts, and the governance leads who hold the data architecture together.

We've been placing Adobe Experience Cloud specialists for over 15 years. We know what these migrations demand at the architect, engineer, and analyst levels — and how to scope a team that can actually finish on schedule.

The Migration Is Already Happening. The Only Question Is Whose Deadline.
