Application Engineer General Summary: A successful Application Engineer (AE) will be able to research & develop concepts, create budgets and quotes to support customer requests for quote activities. The AE will team up with an Account Manager (AM) or Business Development Manager (BDM) throughout this process. The AE will from time to time also participate in customer presentations. The AEs primary focus is on customer quotes, with a secondary focus of supporting customer development and project Q&A. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Concepting o Research and develop concepts through collaborating with Account Managers, Business Development Managers, or other team members. o Vet out technical solutions to ensure viability. o Develop conceptual CAD layouts. • Budgeting o Work with the R+D Account Managers or Business Development Managers to understand the scope of the RFQ. Review all customer specification documents to ensure budget alignment with customer expectations. o Generate required costs for concepts for each discipline in R+D. This becomes the operational budget for the project. o Work with Vendors to obtain commercial quotes as required. o Collaborate within R+D regarding aligning technical solutions being quoted. o Work with Account Managers / Business Development Managers to identify possible “Development” projects and quote accordingly. • Quoting o Prepare formal quotes for RFQ’s. o Work with Account Managers / Business Development Managers regarding requirements for presenting quotes to customers. • Other o Act as liaison for operational questions for project concepts, budgets, quotes, etc. o Participate in all department meetings. o Contribute to and follow ISO Process Documents. Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree in sales, marketing, technical, business development or equivalent required. 2. 5 – 10 years of experience in the technical sales environment required ((Capital Equipment related to the Pharmaceuticals, Medical Devices or Life Sciences Industries preferred) 3. Proven expertise in delivering client-focused solutions based on customer needs. 4. Proven ability to be organized and manage multiple projects at a time with impeccable attention to details. 5. Excellent listening, negotiation, and presentation skills 6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills 7. Working knowledge of SolidWorks. AutoCAD would be a plus. 8. Working knowledge of engineering practices including design for manufacturability, maintainability, reliability, safety, and machine shop practices 9. Excellent organizational, time management and follow-up skills 10.High proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, and Excel. Professional Licensing and/or Certifications Required Valid driver’s license and appropriate level of automobile insurance coverage compliant with local and state laws
